To make your silk scarf, your silk foulard or your silk banana look like new for years to come, we recommend that you consider a few points:
- Hang up to air out instead of washing.
- Hand wash: 30 degrees with a silk detergent. (We recommend TENESTAR.)
- Silk is particularly delicate when wet. So just move it gently in the water.
- Drain the washing water and add cold water until there is no more detergent left.
- To care for and regenerate the silk fibres and to preserve the brilliance of the colours, add a dash of vinegar to the final rinse.
- Do not wring out.
- If necessary, wash in the washing machine: 30 degrees on the delicate cycle, in a washing net.
- Do not use fabric softener! It will stick to the silk fibres and take the shine out of the silk!
- Do not spin.
- To dry, place gently between two terry towels on the drying stand.
- Iron on the reverse side, while still damp or with a damp cloth over it, on level 1 (lowest possible temperature), without steam.
- Glide the iron quickly over the fabric and do not press on it. Leaving it in place could burn the fibres, pressing could cause the silk to lose volume.
General advice:
- Do not expose silk to direct sunlight for long periods, e.g. by storing it or hanging it on the wall. Otherwise it will become brittle.
- If any water splashes remain visible on the silk, don't worry. The next time it becomes wet, these water stains will disappear.
