The silk fabrics for our COSMOLIA scarves made of ORGANIC PEACE SILK* are woven in India and distributed by a German trading company specialised in organic Peace Silk. The organic production as well as the fair working conditions of the Indian weavers are regularly checked by this German company.
The printing is done by a northern Italian fabric printing company that can print even our finest silk fabrics using organic digital printing. Digital printing is a water-saving method of printing. Organic inks are used and the whole process is GOTS** certified.
All other preceding and subsequent steps are carried out by hand by our company or by Swiss companies commissioned by us.
For our COSMOLIA apparel collections and bags, we use only fabrics made from natural fibers, regenerated or recycled materials of natural origin, or carefully selected re-use fabrics (deadstock). Every step is guided by a fair and responsible production process.
Most of our materials are GOTS certified. If a cotton fabric is not GOTS certified, it is sourced from controlled organic farming.
Except for our organic Peace Silk from India, all fabrics are produced in Europe, often in small artisan manufactories.
*PEACE SILK: It is very important to us that the silk is produced in an animal-friendly way. In this method of silk production, the moths leave their cocoon before the silk threads are reeled off.
**GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.
