"The sgraffiti* of the Grisons houses (Canton of Graubünden, Switzerland) were decisive for my project of designing silk scarves.
I have always been fascinated by this craft! During our many stays in Grisons, I not only learned to appreciate the architecture of the old Grisons houses, but also became more and more captivated by the different patterns and representations embedded in the facades of the houses. These patterns and representations together with the architecture, embedded in its surroundings, create a unique, wonderful union.
In the production of scarves, foulards and bandanas of the 'Sgraffito' series, I am particularly interested in the combination of the rough house wall as well as the centuries-old craft of 'sgraffière' and the fine, shiny silk. By means of watercolour painting I depicted the rather rough structures of this very decorative art and transformed them according to my ideas.
The pencil pre-drawing is an essential feature of my personal interpretation of almost all motifs.
Eight designs on the theme of 'Sgraffito', in different colours, sizes and in three different types of silk, are available for you to choose from.
We hope that the choice is difficult for you. :-) The solution, however, is simple! ;-)"
